2012: What Happened?

Well, December 22, 2012 has come and gone......and we're still here. 

What happened? Where were the earthquakes, meteors, floods, twisters and UFOs? I watch the news of people performing rituals in South America and others flocking to France for safety. All week were the discovery programs about the Mayans and 2012 as well as the doomsday preppers reruns.

Seems the Mayans pulled one over on us! I feel really bad for all those who turned their lives upside down preparing for the end that never materialized. Think about all the time and money spent. The worry and fear imagined up day and night about the worse case scenarios must have been almost unbearable. This was not only adults, but i saw many children being indoctrinated into this mindset also.

I have to admit; I too, was curious to see what would come of all this, but like I have stated in the past, you cannot live your life based on future events, especially when in hinders the present. I believe it was the Mayans at all, but humans being their pessimistic selves. We expect bad things, so when we read a calendar with a end date, we assume the worse.

My mom once taught me: "ASSUME" makes an "ASS of U and ME." This may be definitely true of many on December 22, 2012. It seems once again we went out on a limb...and it snapped.

One of the evidences against the "end" was in Gautamala . On an ancient wall was mention of the 2012 cycle. It was just that; a cycle. So 2012 was not the end of the world, but the end of a cycle and the beginning of another; just like our calendars. 

For what it's worth, i'm glad we are still alive and able to panic another day. Maybe next time we will know better. Maybe we will start preparing to take care of the present and let the future care for itself. Maybe we will be more focused on life and living instead of death destruction. Maybe, just maybe, we will stop expecting the worse.
